Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta 2012

There were beautiful weather conditions this morning for the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta 2012! Funny thing is … I had not even realized I was going to find myself smack dab in the middle of this mega-popular annual event on my way through Albuquerque. What a happy surprise! As the cherry on top, the view from the parking of the Sandia Resort & Casino was pretty darn great.

Fall in Williams, Arizona

williams_az

Arrived in this historic little mountain town yesterday and booked 3 nights at the modern Grand Canyon Railway RV Park. Very nice facilities with all the amenities, including cable and wi-fi. Even though it has been 45 years since I lived in Williams, returning felt like a homecoming. I will be taking the RV Park’s free shuttle to the downtown area to explore the shops and historic buildings. The fall weather is gorgeous in Williams this weekend … Highs of 70 during the day, dipping into the low 40’s at night. Brrrrrr! After leaving the triple digits of Las Vegas, the crisp mountain air is a VERY welcome change! Looking forward to wearing my favorite boots and letting them do some walkin’ today!

The Adventure Begins!

Arriving in LV

After a brief delay due to family health issues, I am poised at the starting line of my new life, new adventure, an exhilarating plunge into the unknown! Life on the road in a mini-motorhome! Tootsie and I will be departing tomorrow, October 4, with Williams, AZ as our first destination. I chose this small mountain town in north-central Arizona, nicknamed “The Gateway to the Grand Canyon,” because I lived there when I was 5-6 years old. My father worked at the Shell station in town, and it was where my mother took her first job as a waitress, which would become her life’s work. My stop in Williams is a kind of tribute to my parents, and my humble attempt to honor their memories and reflect upon the fact that I was blessed with my father’s gypsy spirit and my mother’s independence … Both of which fuel my passion for exploration and freedom.

The Rig: 1986 New Horizon 21’ Motorhome on a Toyota 4 cylinder truck chassis. She is small, but she’s got spunk! I am her 4th owner, and she has already been to every state in the union at least once. I have given her the name of Tink, as in Tinkerbell, because although she is compact in size, she has a lot of heart … and oh yes, that whole “spunky” attitude thing.

Thank you for your interest and I hope you will stay tuned for regular updates on my travels, destinations, adventures, and joyful expansion!
